Small clay dishes ceated at St Werburgh Primary School

Over the last two weeks I visited after school Art Club at St Werburgh Primary School in Spondon. We made some small dishes, which are now fired and cooling!

Pupils really loved making a finished piece but it was great to see them enjoying free play with the clay, challenged to create a group of objects on a theme, we had a scene of London, with the London Eye, Big Ben, and double decker bus! We had a forest full of all sorts of creatures.

Social pedagogy conference In Derbyshire

It was our 2nd session at the Social Pedagogy Conference for Derbyshire Children’s home staff. Christine Hayward and I ran delivered our session around the dining table with over sized cup cakes, Head, Heart & Hand place settings and table mats to record participants childhood memories of ‘a time when they  shared and learnt with an adult’  We used the Social Pedagogy Tree to help our discussions and jot down some thoughts.

Great day in Little Eaton Primary School

Thank you to Little Eaton Primary School for inviting me to spend the day with two classes to do some ceramics. The pupils are finding out about insects and we spent the day making ceramic tiles based on this theme.

Preparation included rolling out 60 slabs, which of course ended up on our dining table, a familiar sight! boxed up and ready for the pupils to put their marks.

The pupils were delightful, full of ideas and enthusiastic! We played some drawing games inventing weird and wonderful imaginary insects, as well as drawing together using some inspirational images and finding out how a range of artists have used insects to inspire their work. The pupils worked really hard, as did their teachers and of course me too!

Here’s a few pics of the session (more to come!)

The tiles are now drying out and waiting to go in my kiln next week to be biscuit fired, glazed and fired again.

Thank you again to the staff and pupils for making it a great day! We all look forward to seeing the fished results.

Now selling online with Etsy

I am having a go at selling online with Etsy.
Etsy is a site which helps people to sell handmade or vintage products. Purchases are made via paypal. At present I will only have ready made stock in my shop. If this is successful I may show my range and take orders. We shall see how it goes!
